Saudi Arabia is going through rapid transformation, according to Deemah AlYahya, CEO of Saudi Arabia’s National Digitization Unit (NDU), a government arm mandated to accelerate efforts to achieve Saudi Vision 2030 objectives, an initiative to diversify the kingdom’s economy away from oil dependence. Etisalat announced that it has further reduced its roaming rates for voice calls, SMS and data. Etisalat's prepaid and post-paid customers will enjoy discounted roaming rates of up to 35 percent on data, outgoing voice calls to UAE, GCC and local destinations and outgoing SMS while traveling to any Gulf Cooperation Council countries - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar or Saudi Arabia and roaming through any roaming partner. The new rates are introduced in coordination with the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) to encourage roaming services within the GCC at affordable rates.
