Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), announced the resignation of its Chairman and Board Member, Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

The company stated that the board has accepted the resignation with immediate effect. Shaikh Hamad was appointed as Chairman back in 2006.

Shaikh Hamad played an integral part during his term in implementing the company’s strategic plan further positioning Batelco as a major player within the ICT sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and across its subsidiaries.

The Board lauded all the efforts exerted by Shaikh Hamad in enhancing the overall operational and investment aspects of the group. He also adopted an integral plan to develop and provide services aimed at enhancing customer experience across the group to strengthen the group’s position as a leading ICT operator. In addition to a unified strategy to drive an ambitious expansion plan aimed at strengthening the groups operation across the globe.

On this occasion, the company announces the appointment of Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa as Chairman and Board Member of Batelco.

Backed with an extensive background, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa served as President of Customs Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial, Administrative and Minor’s Estate Affairs at the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs, as well as a previous Board Member of Batelco and Gulf Air. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa received a medal from the late Amir of Bahrain, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Batelco, in line with its commitment to support the Enterprise business sector in Bahrain, has announced the introducion of an Unlimited Calling from all Fixed PSTN (public switched telephone network) lines for enterprise customers. The new bolt-on offers great valueand  will be automatically implemented by the end of December, 2016.

Batelco's Unlimited Calling has been designed to enable businesses to be more cost efficient by enabling them to benefit from unlimited calls on Batelco's network, both fixed and mobile, for the low rate of only BD5 per month. By replacing per unit billing with a very competitive flat rate, customers can make as many calls as they like with no worry about receiving big bills.

The three leading companies partnered to demonstrate a variety of cloud and sustainability solutions in line with the topic of the event; re-imagining realities. The range of advanced technologies, designed to enable the development of the networked society's smart cities,  showcased how life experiences in a smart city are enhanced through more connectivity, with a particular focus on working life, city life and home life, allowing citizens to live and work in more sustainable societies. Among the solutions being showcased are connected print along with smart solutions for homes and hospitals.
