Oman’s Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) has prepared a draft regulation for mergers and acquisitions transactions in the telecommunications sector in Oman.

As such, the Authority has announced the launch of a public consultation document on the issue and invites stakeholders and industry players to participate and provide written comments and visuals on the content of the consultation document.

The strategic objectives of the regulation include,

  • Enhancing competition in the telecommunications sector
  • Maintaining a flexible and up-to-date regulatory environment
  • Optimizing investment

As per the announcement, responses and opinions about the public consultation document must be sent before April 30, 2023, via online questionnaire or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or delivered to the head office.

The project aims to evaluate the proposed change in control that may affect competition in the telecommunications sector while ensuring that competition and public interests are not significantly affected by the change in control.

The Authority will review all the responses received. The Authority maintains that it is not obligated to take into account all the observations contained in the responses.
