Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, is spearheading efforts to elevate Dubai's status as a global technology and innovation hub. This is evident through the introduction of the recently unveiled Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, which translates his vision and directives into actionable strategies for enhancing the city's leadership in this field.

During the initial phase of the 2024 blueprint, each government entity in Dubai will have a designated Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. Additionally, there are plans to establish incubators for AI companies and host an AI Week in educational institutions. Furthermore, a comprehensive strategy to attract data centers will be announced, along with the launch of Dubai's inaugural commercial license for artificial intelligence.

Overall, Dubai's Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, a yearly plan focused on harnessing the potential of the technology for quality-of-life improvements, has the following objectives:

  • To nurture the Dubai the best environment for AI companies and talent
  • To be the leading government in adopting AI that improves quality of life
  • Establish a global lab for AI governance and regulations
  • Be the leading incubator of AI solutions in key strategic sectors

Dubai stands out globally as the leading destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in artificial intelligence relative to its GDP. Additionally, it ranks seventh worldwide in terms of cities' preparedness for artificial intelligence applications.

His Highness, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said: "In recent years, the evolution of artificial intelligence has accelerated, presenting numerous opportunities for nations and governments adept at utilizing it, while posing challenges to those unable to keep pace. This required swift and adaptive action plans responsive to the rapid changes in technology and artificial intelligence.”

To bolster Dubai's global leadership, the Dubai Universal Blueprint for AI will expedite the adoption of AI applications. This initiative aims to fulfill the objectives outlined in Dubai's economic agenda, D33, by injecting an extra AED 100 billion into the city's economy and boosting productivity by 50% through the implementation of innovative digital solutions.
