Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to train 800 Saudi graduates to qualify them for qualitative jobs that require high skills in the communication and IT sector.

Osman Sultan, CEO of EITC, the parent company of "du" and "Virgin Mobile UAE", said long-standing and durable business models are failing, and that if companies don’t embrace digital transformation it will almost certainly signal the death of enterprises and organizations. Mr. Sultan made the remarks during a keynote presentation he delivered at the 9th edition of the Telecom Review Leaders’ Summit from 6-7 December.

Diego Massidda, CEO, Partner Markets, Vodafone Group, believes digital transformation is all about creating "better experiences" for customers. The company aims to create better customer experiences by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. Massidda spoke during a panel discussion at the 9th edition of the Telecom Review Leaders' Summit held from December 6-7 in Dubai.

Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel is battling it out with Nigerian rival Globacom to purchase Nigerian mobile operator 9mobile, formerly Etisalat Nigeria.
