On day two of the Huawei Middle East Digital Transformation Webinar 2020, Huawei introduced a new flagship solution, HiDC, and three new start products to the region: OceanStor Dorado All-Flash Storage, Huawei Hybrid Cloud Stack and SmartLi UPS system.

The two-day webinar saw experts from Huawei and its customers deliver online sessions to discuss IT trends in the Middle East, and the value of incorporating advanced ICT technologies into businesses today.

Alan Qi, General Manager of Data Centre Solution Sales, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Middle East, said, “Data volumes are increasing exponentially and traditional data systems will face architectural bottlenecks for data collection, storage, computing, management, and usage. The Huawei HiDC data center solution will help customers in the Middle East build intelligent, high-performance, and green data centers.”

Ankabut, the UAE’s Advanced National Research and Education Network (NREN) offering academic institutions connectivity to other education networks around the world, delivered a session during Day Two on ‘Cloudification in Digital Education in the UAE’.

“We aim to provide leading edge network infrastructure to educational and research centers within the UAE. This is especially pertinent now, educational institutes are turning to online learning in order to provide continuity to students who remain at home. Cloud-based applications are cost-effective as well as learning-effective, and working with partners such as Huawei enables us to contribute to the digitization of the UAE’s educational and research sector,” said Fahem Al Nuaimi, CEO, Ankabut.

Huawei HiDC solution features innovative architecture, technologies and medium that allows faster and more effective data convergence and sharing.

Three-in-one architecture

The latest AI Fabric intelligent and lossless data center network solution uses the innovative iLossless algorithm to integrate the Ethernet, InfiniBand, and Fiber Channel networks to improve server computing power by 28% and storage IOPS by 30%.

The data center interconnection (DCI) solution uses IP plus optical synergy to provide 40% higher capacity and 25% longer distance in transmission than other vendors in industry. This solution enables network traffic and management collaboration to shorten the service time-to-market (TTM) and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) by more than 30%.

The CloudEngine 16800 data center switch leverages the industry's densest 400GE ports to provide ultra-high-speed signal transmission, super heat dissipation, and efficient power supply, while reducing the power consumption per bit by 50%.

Huawei OptiXtrans DC908, a DCI product, supports per wavelength 800 Gbit/s per wavelength and as many as 220 wavelengths by leveraging the future-proof Super C+L band technology. The NetEngine 8000 series routers use SRv6 to enable route selection based on bandwidth and latency to meet SLA requirements of different services, reduce network protocols, and simplify O&M; they have more than 20 commercial cases around the world. The heterogeneous computing solutions including X86 Intel based, Kunpeng, and Atlas for AI.

The intelligent storage and data management systems such as the world fastest and most reliable AI enabled OceanStor Dorado all flash array, software defined storage OceanStor Distributed Storage for block, file, object and big date all in one. The cloud-first strategy, cloud-edge synergy provides Unified Cloud/Edge Architecture for all scenarios

Lead-to-lithium battery revolution

Data center power supply has entered the lithium era. Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, Huawei SmartLi UPS integrates electronic, digital, and intelligent technologies unprecedentedly to improve the battery lifetime to 5000 charges, which are enough for 10-15 years of use. This vastly reduces customers' TCO and enables fully digital management of data center power systems. Huawei's next-generation OceanStor Dorado intelligent all-flash storage achieves an industry-leading IOPS of 20 million and keeps service latency stably below 0.1ms, unleashing the potential of data for enterprises.

Huawei OceanStor Dorado All-Flash storage

Huawei's next-generation OceanStor Dorado intelligent all-flash storage, as an end-to-end ultra-high-speed platform, achieves industry-leading 20 million IOPS and 0.1ms latency. The fully interconnected and high-reliability SmartMatrix architecture allows a single system to tolerate the failure of up to seven controllers (out of eight), ensuring the continuity of core enterprise services.

The AI-based deep learning improves the read cache hit ratio by 50%, and the cloud-based AI enables full-lifecycle intelligent Operations and Maintenance (O&M), making storage system maintenance easier than ever.

The latest test results from ESG Lab reveals that Huawei's next-generation OceanStor Dorado All-Flash Storage delivers the fastest 0.081ms response latency, 100% load balancing, and 78% savings of TCO in five years. ESG also recommends the next-generation all-flash storage is the solution to help enterprises improve performance and reduce the TCO, and Huawei’s OceanStor Dorado All-flash Storage is a good choice.

It can also be widely used in database, virtualization, and large-scale VDI deployment scenarios to help enterprises unleash data values and accelerate digital and intelligent transformation.

Huawei Hybrid Cloud Stack

Cloud is becoming a new business model and is leading the way for speed & agility in the modern enterprise. Cloud is the platform for the next era of business. Huawei has vast ICT experience and probably the most comprehensive, and affordable cloud service portfolio.

HUAWEI CLOUD combines AI, 5G, edge and other new technologies, leverages its own full-stack, full-scenario AI to build a fully digital enterprise & meet customer data intelligence and industry application innovation demands.

Huawei SmartLi UPS

Digitalization ensures end-to-end reliability. The device uses the industry's most secure battery cells. The UPS, the battery array, and the battery pack form a three-layer management system to eliminate perceived blind spots.

SmartLi has a unique built-in current balancing control module to achieve battery module-level fault tolerance design and eliminate single points of failure.

Digitalization recreates simple and efficient user experience. O&M now operates proactively instead of passively by adopting iPower intelligent management. The UPS modular design with 97% of the industry’s highest efficiency allows on-demand deployment and expansion of power modules. SmartLi supports mixed use of old and new batteries, which enables simultaneous deployment and expansion of battery and UPS capacity.

Li-ion in, lead-acid out phasing to create more value: Compared to the traditional lead-acid battery UPS solutions, SmartLi UPS has a service life of up to 15 years and reduces the power system footprint by 70%, giving more space for other IT devices.

The battery module can effectively balance power consumption between the peak and non-peak times to slash customers' power costs and save energy, bringing more value to customers.
