Nokia is introducing enhanced versions of the Nokia Industrial 5G field router and Nokia XR20 smartphone, created for 4.9G and 5G networks, to allow oil and gas companies and other industries to maintain vital connectivity of their workforce and machines.

Taking its Software As Service (SaaS) offering a notch up, Nokia has unveiled AVA Charging, which aims to support communication service providers (CSPs) and enterprises to expedite monetization of new 5G and IoT use cases, using on-demand software through a subscription-based model.

Nokia announced new platform capabilities and applications for its on-premise Mission Critical Industrial Edge (MXIE) computing solution. Enhancements will enable Nokia MXIE to host applications from different ecosystems, including legacy non-cloud native workloads, elevate operational technology (OT) network security and facilitate application development to advance enterprise digital transformation.

CommScope reported its results for the second quarter of 2022, showing an 8.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase in core net sales. Momentum continues to build in the Connectivity and Cable Solutions segment as net sales increased 26% year-over-year (YoY).

Setting the pace for sustainable networks, Ericsson has introduced a new triple-band, tri-sector radio that boasts a capacity of nine radios for single-band sites. The new Radio 6646 cuts energy consumption by 40% compared to triple-band single-sector radios and reduces weight – with its use of aluminum – by 60%, minimizing site footprint as well.

Nokia has announced that they have signed a five-year 5G deal with AST SpaceMobile, Inc., the company building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network accessible directly by standard 4G or 5G mobile devices. Under the deal, Nokia and AST SpaceMobile will work to achieve their joint ambition to expand universal coverage and connect underserved communities around the world. The launch of AST SpaceMobile’s BlueWalker 3 test satellite later this year will kick off global testing with mobile network operators on six continents.
