Telecom Egypt (TE), one of the largest integrated telecommunications operators in Egypt, is collaborating with IBM and Red Hat to help them develop an open, hybrid cloud strategy that will modernize their operations and accelerate their digital transformation journey. Telecom Egypt will adopt IBM Cloud Pak for Automation built on Red Hat OpenShift, to become more efficient, flexible and future-ready to support core operations and enable new digital services.

Zain KSA has announced sealing an exclusive agreement with The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), offering telecommunications and internet services on the Red Sea’s sites during construction phase. Under this agreement, Zain KSA will ensure the coverage of these sites via its telecommunications and data network over a period of five years. With that, The Red Sea Project becomes the first construction zone to have 5G coverage in the Middle East.

South African multinational mobile telecommunications company, MTN announced that the Group has concluded an agreement to sell, and thereby fully exit, its 20% shareholding in Belgacom International Carrier Services SA (BICS) to Proximus NV/SA.

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has announced that Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has the highest mobile download speed in the Kingdom, with a 5G network that reaches a speed of 342.35 Mbps. This was revealed in the 2020 Q4 Meqyas report on the average download speeds for 5G networks.

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (“EITC”) popularly known by its brand name ‘du’ reported a total Revenue of AED 11.08 billion and a Net Income of AED 1.44 billion for the year ended 31 December 2020.  The results reaffirm the company’s profitability and the resilience of its model in a difficult operating environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The company had reported revenue of Dh12.59 billion and net profit of Dh1.73 billion in 2019.

UAE's leading telecom services operator Etisalat has announced the launch of its Smiles’ food order and delivery service in the UAE as part of its continuous efforts to constantly innovate and enhance customer experience.

Etisalat has partnered with Smart Dubai to provide a comprehensive suite of multi-layered cybersecurity services and skilled expertise that will further strengthen Dubai government entities’ resilience to cyber attacks. The services will be offered by Help AG, the cyber security arm of Etisalat Digital.
