Digital transformation is critical for telecom operators looking to deploy 5G networks because the technology will require them to be more agile and cost-efficient, a Huawei executive said at the Telecom Review Summit held in Beirut on 13 April. An Jian, President of Huawei Wireless Marketing and Solution Sales, said the 5G "is quite important for the transformation of society, especially for the digitalization of traditional industries."

Operators appear thus far to be cautious before making huge investments in the required 5G infrastructure until they're assured that they will reap the returns of the capital invested.

The greatest opportunities for students graduating from university are going to be in technology and the knowledge economy, the head of the Arab region's top ranked university said at the Telecom Review Summit in Beirut on 13 April. Dr. Fadlo Khuri, President of the American University of Beirut (AUB) said the Lebanese economy needs to diversify if it's to retain its graduates.
