A representative of the ITU has lavished Dubai with praise for showing 'leadership' and setting a 'benchmark' for other regions at the world's first ever forum on 'Data Management'. The event was a joint-collaboration between the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and ITU. Bilel Jamoussi, Chief Study Groups Department, Telecommunications Standardization Bureau, ITU, praised the formation of the forum which is the first in a series of discussions which welcomes participation from experts and decision-makers from all over the world to discuss data.

A group of telecommunication experts have discussed the 'challenges' and 'opportunities' in a data-driven world at the world's first ever forum on Data Management. The event was a joint-collaboration between the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) which was held in Dubai, UAE.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has declared during a video address made to leaders at the World Government Summit in Dubai  that diversity is the key pillar for growth and critical in order to create new ideas and foster innovation. Mr. Abe was officially represented at the summit by Japan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Kentaro Sonoura.

The Smart Dubai Office (SDO) announced the launch of its city-wide effort to implement blockchain technology in city services on March 14, and also announced its strategic partnerships for the project: US tech giant IBM and blockchain experts ConsenSys. Mr. Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government, told Telecom Review cyber security regarding the technology is a "top priority".

IMF (International Monetary Fund) Managing Director, Christine Lagarde has praised the UAE for leading other Gulf countries in its preparations to implement taxation that will be effective from January 1st, 2018. The IMF chief was speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, and told residents in the Gulf region that they must 'get used' to taxation in order to continue the investment in large-scale public infrastructure projects.

"Despite all the problems, Lebanon still has quite a lot of unshakeable assets," said His Excellency Sami Nmeir, Consul General of Lebanon in Dubai, speaking at the Lebanese Diaspora Summit hosted by UK Lebanon Tech Hub on March 12. The Summit gathered significant Lebanese figures in the technology and financial sectors to discuss "releasing Lebanese potential" by encouraging and supporting tech startups.

His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed has stated that he believes the key to the nation's sustainability is that the citizens of the UAE must stick to their values and ethics following an address he gave at the World Government Summit in Dubai. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior declared that the UAE's sustainability originates from a blend of its religion, culture, heritage and history which he says were reinforced by the late founding father Sheikh Zayed.

In line with Mobile World Congress 2017, Lebanese Minister of Telecommunications, Jammal Jarrah had a gathering with the Lebanese ICT Diaspora to give updates about the Lebanese Telecom sector, which was held on Wednesday March 1st, 2017 at MWC in Press Conference Room One in Media Village.

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has declared that the future is key in order to revive Arab civilization. Sheikh Mohammed made the remarks at his address to leaders at the World Government Summit.
