ZTE, a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet is showcasing its latest achievements in 5G commercialization, 5G connectivity, cloud services, Internet of Things applications as well as new terminal products at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, further enhancing the company's leadership in 5G innovations.

Italian telecom company TIM and Ericsson have started to digitalize TIM's nationwide radio access network in Italy starting in the city of Turin, where the first virtual Radio Access Network (vRAN) platform in a live advanced LTE network has been successfully deployed.

In the framework of the Mobile World Congress, Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) launched its Huawei 5G customer-premises equipment (CPE), the world's first commercial terminal device supporting the globally recognized 3GPP telecommunication standard for 5G. This device marks a milestone as Huawei sets the stage for the next generation of wireless connectivity.

Ericsson held a press conference at Mobile World Congress early Monday in Barcelona, where CEO Borje Ekholm outlined the vendor's ambitions and expectations for 5G and IoT. While Ericsson aims to be the partner for operators to adopt the next-generation technology, Ekholm warned 5G is "inherently more complex" compared to previous generations, and urged operators to prepare for it as soon as possible.

Swisscom and Ericsson are closely collaborating on end-to-end network slicing for critical communications in a joint project to deploy and explore new use cases for 4G and 5G. The project is based on Ericsson radio access and core networks, and one of the first steps is to test how the functionality can support critical communications over public networks, for example, in the public transport sector.

Ericsson's Outdoor Enclosure 6150 HEX/AirCon has been used by Zain to install indoor mobile sites with shelters and air-conditioning, in Bahrain. The systems previously used by Zain consumed a lot of power and incurred high operational costs.

During a media and analysis briefing ahead of Mobile World Congress 2018, which will be held in Barcelona, Chinese ICT solutions provider Huawei emphasized the importance of all industries to work together and go beyond traditional boundaries to achieve a fully-connected, intelligent world.
