The largest annual broadcast, digital media, and satellite expo in the Middle East and Africa kick starts at the Dubai World Trade Center.
CABSAT which will run from October 26-28, 2021 is the MENA region's most competitive event for the satellite, broadcast, and content industry. The opening ceremony was held at Hall 3, with the introduction given by Aarti Holla-Maini, secretary-general, ESOA, at the SATEXPO Summit stage.
Aarti said, “After a canceled CABSAT in 2020, today we're going to explore many issues and their impact on delivering services to government and enterprise. We'll discuss multi-orbit networks and the efficiencies and improvements that they bring to coverage, performance, reliability, and security. We'll also be talking about autonomous transport and mobility, and the role of satellites in enabling its rapid adoption.”
Stephane Chenard, senior consultant, Euroconsult, gave a comprehensive presentation regarding the state and prospects of the satellite communication market. He showed that the fast-moving space & satcom industry provides innovative offerings that enable sustained innovation, digitization of activities, and overall optimization of services and infrastructure.
Stephane said, “Everybody is going somewhere. Everybody is undergoing this strategic shift.” He pointed out that among all industries, the evident transition nowadays is seen in broadcast to OTT; cellular to 4G, 5G, and the USF; consumer to better broadband for video, remote working, distance learning, etc.; enterprise to more cloud services, decentralization, and IoT; and energy to renewables.
His Highness Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, director general of Dubai’s department of information is also present to officially open the 26th edition of CABSAT. His Highness was accompanied by several dignitaries, including His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, director general of Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA) and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), as he toured the event, which is hosting over 200 brands from 35 countries and features three main conference pillars: the SATExpo Summit, Content Congress and NextGen Content.
CABSAT 2021 will include industry leaders who are eager to demo innovation across the full content journey from creation, through production, to distribution along with over 60 international speakers from the industry.It will take place amid strict COVID-19 prevention protocols, which have enabled DWTC to prove its capability to curate the safest in-person business environment and deliver world-class events with the highest health and safety measures.
