The Mobile World Congress, one of the largest global events covering the future of connectivity and featuring some of the biggest names in the mobile industry, has officially opened its doors. The event will fill the Fira de Barcelona convention center and be ready to display the most recent models of mobile devices and the momentous trends that surround them. The newly launched Industry City will debut along with outstanding speakers and exciting product launches.

Under this year’s theme, Velocity: Unleashing tomorrow’s technology – today, the opening of MWC 2023 Barcelona highlights the big topics around technology and how they’re shaping the ICT industry, creating a brighter future worldwide. Mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers and tech enthusiasts will convene for four days to launch products and discuss the biggest industry trends, including 5G, 6G, immersive technology and fintech.

Approximately 80,000 people are expected in Barcelona to see the latest innovations and ideas from giants of the ICT sector. A variety of notable speakers will cover timely topics, including how to maximize your revenue with the usage of 5G and the fiber network, and host pleasurable conversations and demonstrations with leading experts.

The GSMA is attempting to push a forward-looking agenda filled with much-hyped concepts like Artificial Intelligence, 6G and the Internet of Things. The GSMA has said that the four-day global show will host almost 750 operators and manufacturers as well as 2,000 exhibitors.

There is strong anticipation for the excellent coverage and throughput at Fira Gran Via, the home of MWC this year. Ookla claims that during this year’s MWC 2023, the convention center's 5G download throughputs will be extremely fast, with many, if not most, speeds being greater than 500 Mbps and some areas experiencing throughputs over 750 Mbps.

This demonstrates that operators have envisioned and invested in 5G infrastructure at the venue to provide excellent connectivity and a memorable experience for visitors arriving from all over the world.
