In line with the previously announced business strategy, Ericsson in Market Area Middle East and Africa announces the appointment of Mathias Johansson as Head of Global Customer Unit (GCU) STC and Head of Ericsson Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Johansson is now a member of the Market Area's Leadership Team and his new appointment is effective May 16th, 2017.

Johansson will be based in Saudi Arabia and he will be responsible for driving the company's business in Egypt and Saudi Arabia markets in addition to driving the company's business for STC Group within Ericsson.

Ericsson Middle East and Africa President, Rafiah Ibrahim says: "The new leadership team is set to enable our customers' current and future success with the ambition of becoming more responsive to their needs. Our focus remains to be our customer's trusted partner of choice across the Middle East and Africa market and with this new team, I am confident that we will be able to achieve our wanted position."

Prior to assuming his current role, Johansson held a number of senior positions, spanning various markets, within Ericsson including Sweden, Taiwan and Ethiopia. His most recent appointment in the company was Head of Ericsson East Africa where he was responsible for running Ericsson's business within Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan.

Johansson holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from The Institute of Technology at Linköping University in Sweden.
