Ericsson has enhanced its global 5G radio offering by introducing a new radio product, AIR 3246, for Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (Massive MIMO). The product supports both 4G/LTE and 5G New Radio (NR) technologies and is Ericsson's first 5G NR radio for frequency division duplex (FDD).

South Korean conglomerate Samsung has been rocked following the decision by Seoul Central District Court to sentence its leader to five years in jail for bribery. Billionaire, Jay Y. Lee, was the head of Samsung Group but his career is now in turmoil as it faces up to the prospect of spending the next five years in prison.

US chip firm Qualcomm has announced that it has released a chipset which has been specifically designed based on 3GPP cellular standards for the 'connected cars'. In a statement issued to the press, Qualcomm introduced the 9150 Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) chipset which combines LTE network connectivity with direct communications in the internationally harmonized 5.9GHz band.

Qualcomm Incorporated announced on August 25 that Derek Aberle has decided to leave the company after a 17-year career during which he served as President of Qualcomm Incorporated and helped drive the company's overall global strategy and vision as a member of Qualcomm's Executive Committee. His departure will be effective as of December 31, 2017.

Huawei is marked as a leader in the LTE market according to the newly-released Magic Quadrant for LTE Network Infrastructure by advisory and research firm Gartner. The company evaluated the end-to-end (E2E) LTE infrastructure of vendor's completeness of vision and ability to execute in the report.

Germany's leading telecom provider Deutsche Telekom went live with a 5G connection on its commercial network in central Berlin on Sept. 1, at over 2Gbps and a low latency of 3 milliseconds over a 3.7 gigahertz spectrum link. Powered by Huawei user equipment using 3GPP specifications for 5G New Radio (NR), the deployment on commercial sites is the first in Europe.

Qualcomm has joined AT&T, Nokia, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, Symantec and Trustonic as part of the IoT Cybersecurity Alliance formed earlier this year. The purpose of the group is to collaborate and pool together collective capabilities and resources to tackle emerging security challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT).
