Philippines-based operator PLDT has announced that it aims to complete the migration of its fixed line subscriber base to fiber in 2021.

The operator’s vice president and head of technology strategy and transformation, Arvin Siena, disclosed this information, adding that the Filipino telco plans to shift services for 100 percent of their fixed line subscribers from ADSL to fiber and “fiber-like” alternatives in 2021.

“In the last couple of years, we have deployed the strategy called ‘follow the fiber’. Wherever there is fiber, we can connect any business, fiber-to-the-home, fiber-to-the-enterprise and fiber-to-the-base-station,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO, Manuel Pangilinan.
