Huawei has surpassed Apple in global smartphone sales consistently for June and July, according to research from Counterpoint's Market Pulse for July 2017. Ten years ago Apple revolutionized communication when it unveiled the first iPhone in 2007. Since then, Apple has set the standard for premium smartphones. To celebrate the anniversary, Apple launched its new iPhone X at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park on September 12. While the device is packed with features including a Super Retina Display, wireless charging, and facial recognition, its $1000 price tag could dampen enthusiasm.

Nokia is expanding its Internet of Things (IoT) services offering to help mobile operators enter new IoT market segments or expand their footprint geographically. In addition, the company has complemented its end-to-end validation and testing services with Nokia TestHub, designed to accelerate new technology launches, for example in IoT and the cloud.

T-Mobile, Qualcomm and Nokia achieved an industry first by exceeding Gigabit speeds using evolved, commercially-available 4G LTE. In tests at T-Mobile's lab in early September, download speeds of 1.175Gbps were achieved on T-Mobile's LTE network utilizing Nokia's 4.9G network powered by the Nokia AirScale Base Station and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X20 LTE modem.
